Job Description

LOCATION: Bay Creek MHP
JOB SUMMARY
The Middle/High School Site Director will work alongside the Elementary Site Director to serve the community and families of the Bay Creek Mobile Home Park. The Director’s responsibilities include structuring and executing programs for middle and high school students, building and maintaining relationships with students throughout the year, and supporting students’ academic, social, and spiritual development.
Academically, the Director builds partnerships with local schools, working collaboratively with staff to encourage student success. Directors also support and encourage parents/guardians to take an active role in their child’s education, equipping them with skills and resources to lead their child at home.
The spiritual component involves teaching and modeling the love of Jesus through words and actions. Our actions at Path United are based on our core values: prayer, attitude, teamwork, and humility. These attributes are essential to our mission, integral to the structure of our programs, and represent the overall character of our organization.
Socially, Directors foster healthy development by providing opportunities for interaction with community leaders, encouraging service to others, promoting career and college exploration, and other developmentally appropriate experiences that promote social intelligence.
The role of a Site Director is multifaceted. The heart of the job is simply “doing life“ with these students and being a positive influence in their lives during crucial development phases.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
To support and equip middle and high school students with the skills and resources they need to graduate and identify God’s plan for their lives, ultimately empowering them to thrive in school and beyond.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES/EXPECTATIONS
The role of a Site Director is multifaceted, dynamic, and challenging. Site Directors substantially invest in their communities; mental and emotional resilience is essential in order to perform the job well. Path United values the mental health and emotional well-being of every staff member. We believe in “people over programs”. As a part of the team, you will be encouraged and supported every step of the way.
Primarily, Directors are responsible for designing (through active collaboration in a team setting) and implementing a comprehensive upper-grades program consistent with the Path United mission statement. Guides recruit and encourage volunteers, sharing the mission of Path United in their community, and maintain positive relationships with local churches and organizations.
In addition to programs, Directors plan activities and Signature Learning Experiences (SLEs) that build a safe, welcoming community of students, parents, and volunteers. Examples include: field trips, devotions, having lunch at the school, home visits, and more.
Directors also are responsible for building meaningful relationships with parents, families, and teachers to encourage academic success. Directors never replace the teacher’s role or attempt to take responsibility for a student’s academic achievement. Rather, we encourage both students and parents to take a proactive approach to learning, emphasizing the importance of accountability and responsibility in the school setting.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Personal confession of faith in Jesus Christ and commitment to the mission and vision of Path Project.
Completed bachelor’s degree in a like-minded field (education, social work, child development, communications, counseling, etc.).
Agreement with Path United Core Values – Prayer, Attitude, Teamwork, Humility.
Observable traits of Christ-like humility, compassion and generosity with time, talents and treasure.
Established track record of taking initiative and working well as part of a team.
Teachable - receptive to constructive feedback and eager to learn.
Awareness of, or willingness to learn, the cultural and socioeconomic factors that influence behavior and development in our neighborhoods.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Bilingual ability (Spanish) is preferred, but not required. Must be comfortable learning basic Spanish phrases to effectively communicate with students and their families.
Servant heart – enjoys serving behind the scenes, tending to details and performing basic custodial maintenance of community centers.
Strong organizational skills, including effective time management and management of student behavior, particularly in a group setting.
Emotional and mental stamina - recognizing occasional periods of stress and hardship and part of the unique mission of Path Project.
TIME COMMITMENT AND COMPENSATION
Working hours consist of 20 hours/week, balanced between after school program hours, building positive relationships with students/parents, visiting the school, adventure experiences, and administrative and preparatory tasks & meetings.
Compensation is competitive with schools and similar nonprofits and would be based on our Part-Time Site Director salary scale, with careful consideration given to the employee’s previous experience and qualifications.
Time off follows the school calendar during the year (one week off for Thanksgiving, 2 weeks for Christmas, one week for Spring Break, etc.). Directors also receive personal days each calendar year, based on their employment status.
June is a full, active month, accommodating various camps and seasonal activities. Directors should expect their schedule to differ from the school year. Availability during this busy month is essential.
July is a sabbatical month; there are no programs or activities for students or staff.
